The Night of Contemporary Art

On June 29 St. Petersburg will host the Night of Contemporary Art – a large-scale program of contemporary Russian art and exhibition projects. The opening will take place at 19:00 on the island of New Holland, where CYLAND MediaArtLab will present its new project DEBRIS – a light installation by Pavel Ivanov and Alexey Grachev, reminiscent of anti-tank obstacle defense turned into glowing stars.

At 22:00 and 2:00 at Anna Frants Gallery Space (Rubinstein street, 23, apt. 39) CYLAND video archive curator Victoria Ilyushkina will present a program on “Jonas Mekas – an American avant-garde cinema hero” with a lecture and a rare documetary sreening “Jonas in the desert” about the New York independent film director and archivist of the American experimental art films.
